Week 9-14

Week 9-14: CONSULTATION Reflecting on the role of consultations in design, especially for large projects, I realize how crucial they are for achieving successful outcomes. Consultations provide invaluable opportunities to gather feedback, refine ideas, and ensure that the design aligns with the client's vision and project goals. For complex projects, like those involving extensive design work, consultations allow for ongoing dialogue between the designer and the client. This communication helps clarify objectives, address concerns, and adjust the design as needed. Through these interactions, I’ve learned that understanding the client’s needs and expectations is essential for creating a design that truly meets their requirements. Incorporating tools like 3D modelling and sketching further underscores the importance of consultations. Sketching serves as a preliminary step to visualize and explore design concepts quickly. It allows for rapid iterations and immediate feedback, which i...

Week 5-8

Week 5: TEXTFUSEUM In Week 5, we started a new assignment to design a digital museum centred on sustainable textiles in fashion. Our client, Nanotextile, shared his vision for the project, titled 'TEXTFUSEUM' including insights on fast fashion, consumer behaviour, and sustainable fashion trends. He outlined the goals, functions, and concepts for various sections of the museum. Our lecturer also introduced us to the design process, emphasizing the importance of gathering detailed information, understanding the client's objectives, and pinpointing the target audience. We were encouraged to explore case studies to spark ideas and guide our brainstorming for the digital museum project on sustainable textiles. Week 6: Museum Project & UX Research In Week 6, our assignment was to prepare a PowerPoint presentation focusing on a case study of a selected museum project. We were required to research various aspects, including design elements, spatial layout, materials used, and ...

Week 1-4

WEEK 1: Design Futures Unveiling Creativity in Tomorrows World In the first week of our spatial design class, we were introduced to the main ideas of the module and its importance in today’s world. We learned how spatial design drives innovation, improves user experiences, and tackles challenges to help shape a more sustainable and inclusive future. The lecture also covered how interactive interfaces can be used in spatial design to create engaging virtual environments. This approach opens up new avenues for us as students and designers to explore creativity and enhance experiences through immersive technology. The lecturer also presented examples of future projects, emphasizing the role of technology in connecting people with spaces. WEEK 2: Introduction to Spatial Design In our second spatial design class, we explored the basics and key aspects of being a spatial designer, focusing on how people move and interact within both interior and exterior spaces. Our lecturer stressed the...

Final Assignment: Textfuseum

Image
FINAL ASSIGNMENT: Textfuseum For Project 3, we put together a complete presentation for the digital museum focused on sustainable textiles in fashion. This task gave me a chance to reflect on everything I’ve learned this semester. From my early sketches and digital designs to creating 3D models in Spatial.io, I was able to fully realize my vision. This project allowed me to showcase my grasp of sustainable fashion and my design ideas to both the client and my peers. I highlighted the standout features of my interactive design, which played a crucial role in my exhibit. The experience of presenting my work was eye-opening. It underscored how much I’ve developed and the progress I’ve made in my skills. I was thrilled with how smoothly the presentation went and felt confident in my ability to communicate complex concepts effectively.

Assignment 2: Cleveland Museum of Art

Assignment 2: Cleveland Museum of Art For our 2nd Assignment, we were to conduct research on museums with interactive exhibits. Thus, I chose the Cleveland Museum of Art, located in Cleveland, Ohio. Below are my slides. Researching the Cleveland Museum of Art's interactive exhibits, architectural design, and construction process has been an enlightening experience that deepened my appreciation for how art is presented and engaged with by the public. The museum is not only a repository of art but a dynamic space where visitors can connect with the exhibits in meaningful ways. One of the most fascinating aspects of my research was learning about the museum's innovative approach to interactive exhibits. The use of digital technology to enhance visitor engagement is truly impressive. Features like touch-screen displays and augmented reality experiences allow visitors to explore artworks in depth, providing context and storytelling that enrich the viewing experience. This interacti...
